Nicki Minaj Hits Grammys Red Carpet In Red Robe, With Pope Look-alike

Count on Nicki Minaj to turn more than a few heads on the red carpet. In a new envelope-pushing look for her, the always outrageous Nicki channeled high fashion and religion in a strange way on tonight’s Grammy red carpet. Nicki rocked a deep red Versace cloak, covering more skin than she usually does, which offset her glowing fresh-faced makeup. Hip-hop’s Little Red Riding Hood was in the building. Even more eyebrow-raising was her choice of date, an older gentleman man decked out in a bishop’s ensemble. We can only wonder what those two chatted about on the limo ride over.

Fans took to Twitter to share their confusion. “How can I describe #NickiMinaj’s performance? Let’s say it’s a religious experience,” said one while another added “where’s the big bad wolf when you need him #nickiminaj?”

Nicki will take the stage tonight for the first time and premiere “Roman’s Holiday”, the next single from her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded sophomore album. She’s also up for one of the night’s biggest nods, Best New Artist where she’ll go head-to-head with J. Cole, The Band Perry, Bon Iver and Skrillex.

Earlier today, Nicki tweeted her love for singer Whitney Houston who died suddenly. “Jesus Christ, not Whitney Houston. Greatest of all time,” she wrote and then Twitpiced a photograph of Whitney with Michael Jackson.

Adele And Nicki Minaj Will Win Big At Grammys, Say Vegas Odds

Adele is going to take home a lot of hardware at the Grammys tonight—at least that’s what those making wagers in Las Vegas and beyond seem to think.

The British singer is the heavy favorite to win Album of the Year for 21, and both Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Rolling in the Deep.” Nicki Minaj is the odds-on choice for Best New Artist in a category that includes The Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole and Skrillex.

It would be a major upset if Adele loses in either of the three major categories, according to posted betting odds. The 23-year-old singer’s 21 is such an overwhelming favorite for Album of the Year that you’d have to wager $1500 or more just to win back $100 on an Adele victory

For Record of the Year, you’d have to put up at least $400 to earn back $100 if “Rolling in the Deep” wins; for Song of the Year, you’d need to bet over $1,000 to win $100.

A $100 wager on Kanye West’s “All of the Lights,” the second most-likely winner in the latter category, would net over $1,000 in the seemingly-unlikely event of a Kanye West victory. Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” would bring back over $7,000.

The odds for Best New Artist aren’t quite as long for the challengers. You’d only have to put up $175 to win $100 on frontrunner Nicki Minaj; a $100 bet on The Band Perry would yield $300 or more, while a Bon Iver win would net $180 or more. J. Cole and Skrillex would yield over $1,200.

Even though he’s a longshot for Best New Artist, Skrillex will go home happy–he has already nabbed three Grammys in other categories.

2012 Grammys, Young Money: Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne Nominated

Get More: Music News

Young Money is the team to beat at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Racking up a plethora of nominations, both individually and collectively, Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake (as well as affiliate DJ Khaled) have proven that there really is strength in numbers. Young Money boss Lil’ Wayne snagged an impressive five nods while first lady Nicki Minaj is up for Best New Artist, in which she is up against The Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole and Skrillex.

Young Money boss Lil’ Wayne snagged an impressive five nods while first lady Nicki Minaj is up for one of the night’s biggest honors, a nomination for Best New Artist, in which she is up against The Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole and Skrillex. In a master versus protege moment of sorts, Nicki will also compete against Wayne in the Best Rap Album category with Pink Friday versus Tha Carter IV. The Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award could very well be renamed the Drake Collaboration award as DJ Khaled’s mega-hit I’m On One” featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil’ Wayne goes head-to-head with Rihanna and Drake’s sexy track “What’s My Name?”

The Best Rap Performance category looks especially good for the label as Wayne, Nicki and Drake all have nods, on Chris Brown’s frenetic “Look at Me Now” and the introspective “Moment 4 Life,” respectively.

Wayne and company will enjoy plenty of airtime on the Grammy stage as well, in two separate, but highly anticipated performances. Genres will collide when Lil’ Wayne joins EDM powerhouses deadmau5 and David Guetta for a dance/electronica music throw down while Barbz everywhere can catch Nicki in her very first performance on the award show.

More than a few eyebrows are sure to be raised as Nicki unveils the brand new track “Roman Holiday” from her upcoming sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Drake was really onto something with that”Man I love my team/Man I love my team” sentiment on “Up All Night.” The 54th annual Grammy Awards are set to air Sunday, February 12 on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.

Nicki Minaj: ‘It’s boring trying to be sexy’

Nicki Minaj has said she got fed up of trying to be sexy because “it’s boring”.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the rapper – who is set to release her new album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ on April 3 – said she had felt under pressure to adopt a glamorous image to succeed in the hip-hop world, but changed tack when she realized she wasn’t showing off her full personality.

“When I started getting serious about rap, the people closest to me were like, ‘You should dress this way, you should speak that way, you should rap this way,'” she said. “I just started feeling super caged in.”

She added:

I thought you had to do that [be sexy]. But it’s boring. The typical sexy. I mean, girls wanna be sexy but I also think you have other sides of yourself.

Speaking about how she had transformed her persona, she explained: “Right before my album came out I felt like I had been hiding my personality – my comedic side. I had to ask myself, ‘Why am I only showing one facet of who I am?'”

Earlier this month (February 2), Minaj’s video for hew new single, ‘Stupid Hoe’, was banned by US television network BET for supposedly being too raunchy – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.

Last weekend (February 5), Minaj joined Madonna and MIA for the Queen of Pop’s controversial Super Bowl halftime show to perform her new single ‘Gimme All Your Luvinn”. She also recently overtook Eminem to become the most followed hip-hop artist on Twitter
