Nicki Minaj won Best R&B/Hip Hop Artist & R&B/Hip Hop Song at the 14th annual Teen Choice Awards. The awards aired live Sunday night at Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

In an age where most entertainers struggle to pull in a numbers worthy of their marketing budget, it seems Nicki Minaj has become an unlikely exception.
Indeed, despite being the front woman for the once unflattering field of Female Rap, the Pepsi darling now ranks as one of Pop’s highest selling entities, enjoying two Multi-Platinum #1 LPs and the record for spending the most consecutive weeks in the US Top Ten with ‘Starships‘.
Now, by way of her latest single ‘Pound The Alarm’, she has extended her lead as the highest charting Female Rapper of any genre.

Now perched at #9, Minaj is now the only Femcee since Missy Elliott to watch two singles from the same LP to peak in the UK Top Ten, with ‘Starships’ at #2 and ‘Alarm’ now at #9.
However, with both singles peaking higher than Elliott’s releases(‘Get Ur Freak’ on & ’4 My People’) Minaj now extends her lead as the country’s highest charting Female Rapper.
This, as she has scored more Top Ten releases in the nation than any of her contemporaries- past or present.
Sure to serve as even greater news, this week saw her sophomore album ,’Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ , hit sales of 968,000 units worldwide generated since its April 3rd release, set to rise even further with the launch of her 2012 Arena tour.
Thus far, the MC has made 31 appearances on the British singles chart since 2009.
