billboard.com released following article yesterday:
Jack White loves Nicki Minaj, and he loves her — and hip-hop’s current offerings — so much that he dubbed the genre “the new punk rock.”
In a new interview with Clash, White says that he sought out musicians who backed hip-hop artists on the road to flesh out the sound of his new album Boarding House Reach, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
“JAY-Z goes on tour and he has a live band behind him,” he said. “That’s a specific type of musician who can do that; they can replicate samples and tones that an engineer or a producer came up with on a recording and perform them live. So those types of musicians I thought would be very inspiring to me, to just get to a new place that I’d never been before.”
He adds that hip-hop, “in a lot of ways” is “the new punk rock,” where artists performing in the jurisdiction of the genre are “doing the dangerous things — whether it’s Trippie Redd or Tekashi6ix9ine; these are a very punk, dangerous side of music.”
But Minaj, and her track “Only,” in particular, set a new standard for him and what he’s hoping to achieve in his work.
“I mean, some of those lyrics are like, ‘Holy shit!'” he told Clash. “I, as an adult, listening to that by myself, am shocked at some of the words that I’m hearing. But it’s brilliant! It’s brilliant to be able to say that, to be able to say whatever you want. I couldn’t get away with saying half of those things that Nicki Minaj says in that song. It’s just brilliant to see how far things have gone in that sense, and how cool it is for people to talk about these moments and say, ‘Wow, check this out.'”
Yesterday (Sunday April 8th), Nicki simply tweeted the number ‘4’, just to delete it shortly after. Many Fans think it could be the days till the release of Nickis 4th album. As “Music News & Rumors” claimed on Twitter, Label Staffers wanted Nicki to release her new album in early April, but Nicki refused to do so, because she doesn’t want to overshadow Cardi B. We’ll see what will happen next.
YES! Nicki just became the first (!) female Rapper to have all her albums sold over 5 million copies worldwide! Read the article hotnewhiphop.com wrote about it:
Nicki Minaj continues to add to her legacy with a new accomplishment.
Nicki Minaj’s worldwide success has many considering her as one of the greatest female talents in rap music’s history. Since her arrival on the scene, her adeptness for bars and melody have impressed her fans as she has steadily built an empire atop a limited class of women in hip-hop. While the scene appears to be expanding, Nicki likely still sits atop the throne without having released an album since 2014. A new feat has cemented Nicki’s legacy even further as she now enjoys an accomplishment that nobody preceding her has experienced.
The Queens rapper has officially sold over 5 million copies of each of her studio albums, making history as the first female rapper to accomplish such an achievement. With a discography including Pink Friday, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and The Pinkprint, the world has embraced Nicki as a superior talent in hip-hop, allowing her to move at least 5 million units for each project globally. With the release of her next album appearing to come later this year, Nicki has a chance to further make a mark in the industry. Although album sales have become harder to come by as streaming sites have become the norm, the secretive nature of Minaj’s upcoming project makes us wonder what could be up the rapper’s sleeves.
Congratulations Nicki on reaching such an impressive accomplishment. We will continue to look for any official updates about her upcoming musical endeavors
According to hotnewhiphop.com Christopher R. O’Connor sued the record label UMG, asking for royalties from “Side to Side” and wants songwriting credit, because he believes the song sounds exactly like his song “J5 (T6)”.
O’Connor believes that a record executive at UMG, the label that’s home to Grande, got wind of his track and decided to repurpose it for another, more famous artist. He has since brought the case to the record label, who instructed him to send in a demo for assessment. However, the company does not believe that any aspect of the arrangement was appropriated for Grande’s advantage.
Listen below, do you think the songs are similiar?
Wow, Nicki unexpectedly showed up in the latest Mercedes-Benz A-class commercial, she appears in the passenger seat and surprised the driver. Nicki got the part in the commercial to promote Tidal. According to Mercedes, the streaming service will be installed in the German cars by the end of the year. Customers will also be able to obtain Tidal free of charge for the first 12 months. I’ve also added one Photo to the Gallery. Check out the Commercial below:
According to Tory Lanez Nicki told him to remove her verse from his “Shooters” single, because he allegedly gave her criticism through a text message. That’s sad, because Nicki totally slays this song. Listen to it below:
The Nigerian rapper ‘Wizkid’ teased about a collaboration with Nicki. There is no release date yet. Check out what konbini.com wrote about it:
While most Nigerian artists tend to team up with C-listers (at best) when it comes to international collaborations, Wizkid has been fortunate enough to consistently work with the best of the best — like Drake, Future and Chris Brown, just to name a few.
Now, the afropop superstar has revealed that he has an upcoming collaboration with the undisputed queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj.
About eight months ago, Wizkid and Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to share a picture of both of them together. While fans immediately assumed that meant we were getting a collaboration, nothing had been confirmed — until now, that is.
Speaking with The Beat FM’s Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi about upcoming collabs, Wizkid said:
“I’ve got a couple big ones coming up. I’ve got one with Nicki [Minaj] coming soon. “
Although we are not sure if what we are getting is a Nicki Minaj song with a catchy Wizkid chorus or a Wizkid song with a killer Nicki Minaj verse, we can be sure that what we do get will be a bop either way. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take forever before we get to hear it!
Thug teased the upcoming collaboration on Instagram Live.
Young Thug is preparing to release new music with Nicki Minaj, according to a statement made on Instagram Live Saturday. “I’ll log back on a little later. When I log on I’ll be previewing my next single featuring Nicki,” he said. As far as we know, the promise was not kept, but the announcement itself is big news for both Thug and Nicki fans.

Last September, Nicki spoke of a collaboration with Young Thug which she said would appear on her fourth studio album. “[I was] so blown away,” she said of working with Thug. “I can’t wait for people to hear that collaboration.” Thug and Nicki have previously collaborated on the “Danny Glover” remix, Juicy J’s “Low,” and Rae Sremmurd’s “Throw Sum Mo.”
It is unclear if the song Nicki referred to back then is the same collaboration Thug is now teasing. From Thug’s description, it sounds like he will be the lead artist on the track with Nicki appearing as a feature. If that’s the case, the song has either been reworked, dropped from Nicki’s album, or is another collaboration entirely. There is also the possibility that this is Nicki’s single which Thug appears on. Either way, the news should excite fans of Nicki, who has been silent both musically and on social media for the majority of 2018 thus far. Thug fans may also be surprised, as the rapper said in February that he would not be releasing any new music this year to honor his deaf brother.
Nicki has not shared any news of upcoming music. Her long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s The Pinkprint is expected to see release in 2018.
