Source: MTV According to Nicki Minaj, it’s a foregone conclusion that she’ll be the first female rapper to make MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game list. “Of course I’m on the list,” she told MTV News. “If I’m not on the list, let me tell you something: Them Barbiez will find your asses. So we know Nicki Minaj is on the list, but we don’t know here she ranks.” The Lil Wayne protégé has a strong case to make the 2010 list. Although she has yet to release her debut album, Pink Friday, she already hit the top of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart with “Your Love.” Nicki Minaj has been a major presence at awards shows and television specials throughout the past 12 months, from the BET Hip Hop Awards to MTV’s VMA pre-show. Where she’s really made her mark has been as a guest artist on records by Mariah Carey, Robin Thicke, Trey Songz and Ludacris, among others. The animated lyricist has proved particularly adept at rhyming alongside her male counterparts, including Jay-Z, Kanye West and Drake. “I believe I’m a dope MC in the big scheme of things, period,” she said. “Like, if you put 10 girls in a row, I’m not only gonna stand out with them, but I’m gonna stand out if you put nine boys in a row and put me in the middle. I believe there’s a lot of girls like that. I believe most female MCs are better than the boys. But they don’t really get a shot sometimes. Labels are afraid to sign females and things like that. Don’t get me wrong, the boys are super dope. But the girls are up there too and are important and equal in the way we deliver raps.”

With two Billboard records under her belt, Rolling Stone and Out covers and a new album on the way, Nicki Minaj still keeps it hood. The femcee took it back to the people last night (October 7) and answered fans’ burning questions via Twitter. No stranger to the 140 character world (or responding to her fans directly), Nicki routinely answers questions from her over 1.4 million followers arbitrarily. Last night the questions became a little more personal, and Nicki Minaj gladly obliged. The semi-formal Q&A announcement arrived on Twitter around 8pm EST, when Nicki tweeted that Young Money affiliate Scaff Beezy needed 27 more followers to break the 13,000 mark. If he reached that number, Minaj promised a tell-all session with her fans and Scaff Beezy actually reached 13,145 followers.

“I think she’s already doing everything that it takes to get to the next level. She’s standing alone — there is no two Nicki Minajs right now,” Busta told MTV News earlier this year. “It’s always good to be able to show people how diversified you are and what you’re capable of outside your comfort zone, [and] it feels like she ain’t got no problem displaying that.” Another fan asked what most of us probably wonder. “Can you ask Busta what happen to the crazy style and delivery he came in the game with that wohaa wohaa-type ish and his hats?” asked PhillyBoiSWP. The Flipmode MC is also know for standout guest appearances, but one fan was more interested in duets we haven’t heard. “@BusaBusss Past or Present, who would you want to do a collaboration with that hasn’t happened already?” tweeted DefectiveJoker. Finally, what’s happening with that secret collabo with one of our favorite Virginia natives? “Will you ask @BusaBusss about the track he and @MissyElliott tweeted about,” asked Missywatch. “Will it come out? I wanna another BANGA from ’em!” |
