The Internet is buzzing about Rihanna’s new track “Raining Men” featuring a guest verse from Nicki Minaj. The dance-inspired pop cut comes from Ri-Ri’s upcoming album Loud, which hits shelves on November 16. Though the title can be seen as misleading—no Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men” samples here—Nicki does reference the classic in her rhyme.

“Laying on the beach, they be feeding me my catfishes, cause it’s raining men! Fat bitches,” she spits as both her Roman Zolanski and Barbie characters.

Some fans expected “Fly” from Minaj’s Pink Friday LP, which arrives November 22, to be the first Rihanna and Nicki collaboration to reach the web. However, like Rihanna’s album, “Raining Men” dropped first and fans are weighing in.

One of the first reactions questioned just who wrote “Raining Men.”

“Nicki wrote Rihanna’s part in ‘Raining Men’?”asked @wutthenadja.

Considering the reference track “Saxon” leaked last year with Nicki Minaj singing, “Guess who? You bitches, it’s RiRi,” one could imagine Barbie was penned a few lines for the Bajan beauty.

The Twitter response to the track itself has been mainly positive.

“Who has heard ‘Raining Men’? That song is on point Mehn!” @BeeBeetch wrote.

Elsewhere fans predicted that the song would become an anthem.

“ ‘Raining Men’ is going to be a perfect club song, mixed or original,” said @MsDani.

Even the fellas are shamelessly enjoying the female-driven cut.

“#nowplaying the new Rihanna and Nicki Minaj ‘Raining Men’ … Def the new girls anthem,” @Jus_Blazeee tweeted. “I could see it now.”

“I like this ‘Raining Men’ song!” added @DeeMarKayy.

Both Rihanna and Nicki Minaj have colossal fanbases that appear to be taking sides on which diva outshine the other.

“Clearly Team Minaj is loving ‘Raining Men’ but only because of Nicki’s part,” @CarolineSmythe tweeted. “Congrats. You did it again.”

Morning talk show host Regis Philbin called Minaj the next Lady Gaga, but don’t the Ri-Ri’s fans …

“Sorry Gaga, I might listen to Loud first until [ Born That Way ] comes out,” @CosmicTragedy tweeted.

As possibly the most anticipated song from Loud, “Raining Men” seems to be living up to the hype. Next up? Hopefully “Fly”… and RapFix will keep you posted on whether the song actually soars.

As Drake traveled the road to music stardom earlier this year, MTV was with him every step of the way, getting behind-the-scenes footage. The result was an enjoyable documentary entitled ‘Better Than Good Enough’ that showed the tremendous work that goes into launching a star. Young Money’s next big one is Nicki Minaj and it looks like she’ll be getting the same treatment from the television network as cameras have been following her every move during the recording process.

“Here’s a first look at a BIG project I’m doing with MTV,” Minaj teased on Twitter Monday evening, posting a screenshot. “Sneak peak later this week!!!”

Both her and Drake have had the pressure of dealing with major debut releases in similar environments. Both have increasingly vast fanbases clamoring for perfection and guessing sales figures. With younger fans more eager to purchase pop-oriented music finding a balance between pop and traditional hip-hop versus becomes the challenge.

‘Pink Friday’ is available from stores and digital retailers on Nov. 22. Minaj, like Drake in June, will also appear for a surefire chaotic signing at Best Buy in Manhattan on Nov. 23.

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj’s musical collaboration was so nice that they decided to do it twice. Not only did the dynamic duo pair up for a track on Rihanna’s Loud album, but also on a tune for Nicki’s debut, Pink Friday, both of which are out later this month.

When Rihanna sat down with MTV News recently to talk about her album, she confessed that the ladies have been in musical cahoots with one another for quite some time now. “We did work together on music for [Loud] as well as [for my 2009 release] Rated R,” Rih explained. “It was the end of the album, but she was sending me these incredible songs. Like I wanted some up-tempo stuff from her that was kind of gangsta, but she sent me these ballads and they were beautiful and I couldn’t believe that it was a female MC writing these songs. She’s really talented and I want to work with her again.”

Rihanna did eventually get her up-tempo gangsta track from Nicki in the form of “Raining Men,” which appears on Loud. The club-banging, girl-power anthem combines Rihanna’s pop-superstar swagger with Nicki’s hip-hop it-girl swagger. Minaj adopts an island accent for her verse in the tune. Meanwhile, the chorus pretty much sums up the bravado of the heavily hip-hop-influenced track, as Rihanna sings, “Falling like the rain/ So we ain’t running out/ Always raining men/ So what you worried about.”

Rihanna was more tight-lipped about her contribution to Pink Friday, but she did say, “We also worked together on her album. I can’t say … actually, the reason I can’t tell you is because I don’t know the official title of the song. It might be ‘To Fly,’ I’m not sure if that’s the confirmed [title].” It was later revealed that the track the pair worked was simply titled “Fly.”
