Video: Nicki Minaj Discusses Her Kmart Collection

Is anyone else getting super anxious for the official drop of Nicki Minaj‘s Shop Your Way collection with Kmart? Barbz, I know you feel me. We’ve been following along since the first mention of the collaborative clothing line, carved out time for the live press conference, set our alarms for the first look, and even placed our ballots for the t-shirt slogan contest. Each step taking us closer to the collection’s slated launch this fall but also forcing us to ask a little louder, “CAN WE HAZ YET?” Welp, here’s another milestone to add to the road to the line’s final unveiling: behind-the-scenes video of Nicki and her design team working on the collection.

Minaj hits up the design studio with her team to go over some of the latest stock of samples: printed skater dresses with cut-outs, graphic leggings, technicolor puffer vests, and cropped bustier tops. “There are some dresses that I’m obsessing over already, just the shapes of them,” Nicki says over shots of potential inclusions in the forth-coming collection, “They tuck you in in the right places and enhance the right places.” Form is important to Minaj who rattles off “Comfortable equals confident” as a kind of fashion design mantra. “I’m doing this for women in general to feel beautiful and sexy,” the Queen Barb explains, “and any woman can wear it and feel confident.” Stay up-to-date on Nicki’s Kmart collection and help guide the process along by following her Shop Your Way page!

Nicki Minaj Gets Set To “Revolutionize the Wine Industry” With Myx Fusions

Nicki Minaj is getting in on the adult beverage game, announcing today that she has become part-owner in the fruit-infused wine line Myx Fusions. As part of this new business venture, Nicki will become the focal point of the brand’s marketing campaign, which will be spread across print, radio, television and special event platforms.

Myx currently sells their moscato wine only in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with its small blue bottle becoming a signature staple.

“I am so excited to team with the Myx brand,” said Minaj in a statement. “It’s a great-tasting, amazing product that people will love. It’s not even a hard sell. Myx Fusions gives us an opportunity to revolutionize the wine industry.”

Nicki Minaj Goes Island For Busta Rhymes’ ‘Twerk It’ Remix

Nicki Minaj has proven to be both a hip-hop and pop threat, but her versatility doesn’t stop there. Through the years, the Trinidad-born hitmaker has dabbled in dancehall, showing off her Caribbean swag, making her most recent splash with labelmate Busta Rhymes on the remix to his new reggae-drenched single, “Twerk It.”

The Dungeon Dragon first released his Pharrell-produced island thump last month, and Thursday night, he gave the track new life by adding the queen of Queens, New York. This time out, rather than employing her alter-ego Roman or her sometimes London accent, Nicki leans on her West Indian roots and lets loose a deep Patois. “Dutty gal, when ya see mi and what yu fi do/ Bow down, big chain and it heavy too,” she raps in a slow and measured pace.

Keeping with the vibe, Nicki goes on to shout out dancehall influencers like Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, before repping for her birthplace, spitting: “Trinidad an no Jame$ mi no chat ’bout.”

Busta Rhymes, who is Jamaican-American, has always dabbled in reggae. On his 2009 album, Back On My B.S., he and Pharrell created a similar vibe with “Kill Dem.”

This isn’t the first time Nicki has embraced dancehall, either. Back in 2010, she hopped on a remix of Jamaican reggae singer Gyptian’s hit “Hold You,” and earlier this year, she contributed to French Montana’s Lil Vicious-sampling single “Freaks.” Though Montana’s single is technically a rap song, Nicki’s verse was drenched with island slang. “I feel like this song brings back the essence of the dancehall,” French told MTV News about “Freaks” back in March. “I feel like just the dances alone in this song is gonna take it somewhere else.”
