Future calls Nickis new album ‘Queen’ a “classic”

I found an article on TheSource.com, about the Rapper Future calling Nickis new album a ‘classic’ and that it’s some ‘crazy shit’. Check out the article below:

The Barbz are beyond ready for Nicki Minaj to release her album, Queen. She pushed the release date back an entire month later, but promises it’s for a good reason and Future can attest to that.

The “Chun-Li” rapper posted up a video of them in her studio, presumably on Memorial Day, and the Atlanta rapper said Queen is his “favorite album. It’s f–king amazing. This sh-t is crazy.”

There’s no telling if Future is featured on the album, or if he just pulled up for an advanced listening session. Nicki is keeping all Queen details tightly under wraps. But she did tweet that she had a hook from an “epic artist,” then posted this throwback with Lauryn Hill on Instagram.

Will Lauryn and/or Future be featured on Nicki’s forthcoming album? Maybe we’ll find out more when she releases her second single.

Nicki goes RIAA Gold With “Chun-Li”

According to Forbes.com ‘Chun-Li’ went RIAA Gold. Check out the article below:

Just over a week after performing her latest hit “Chun-Li” on Saturday Night Live, Nicki Minaj has officially earned a gold sales award for it.

Revealed on via the artist’s Twitter account and confirmed by the RIAA, the news comes roughly a month and a half after the song’s original release on April 12. The gold certification reflects sales and sales equivalents amounting to 500,000 units, a combination of digital download purchases, legal audio streams, and online music video plays.

Co-produced by Minaj with J. Reid, “Chun-Li” first appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at No. 92, no small feat given that it accomplished this with only one day’s worth of performance in the qualifying frame. The following week, the track shot to No. 10, which remains its peak position after seven total weeks.

The corresponding album Queen is set for August 10 release, pushed back from an originally planned June 15 date. Some have speculated that the move has to do with an expected glut of rap albums due out next month, including ones from Nas and Kanye West, though the success of “Chun-Li” to date would suggest otherwise.

“Chun-Li” now marks Minaj’s fifteenth song as a lead artist to achieve RIAA certification. The highest performing of the bunch remains “Super Bass,” which is octuple-platinum, with the sextuple-platinum “Starships” coming in second. (Years have passed since these tracks’ last certifications, and it is plausible that at least one of the two would earned RIAA diamond status upon official review.)

Minaj’s presence has helped several other artists achieve at least RIAA gold if not better, including Ariana Grande, David Guetta, Trey Songz and Yo Gotti. In this subset, the Jessie J single “Bang Bang” outranks the rest, having done platinum six times over.

Furthermore, all three of Minaj’s studio albums for the Young Money / Cash Money imprint at Republic have earned RIAA awards, with a triple-platinum certification for 2011’s Pink Friday and double-platinum ones for its sequel Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and 2014’s The Pinkprint.

Not surprisingly, Minaj’s strengths extend to the Billboard charts as well. To date, she has had 88 singles with her reach the Hot 100, including those with her as a lead artist as well as a featured artist on other people’s tracks. In addition to “Chun-Li,” Minaj currently appears on another concurrent Hot 100 charting single, albeit in a guest capacity: Post Malone’s “Ball For Me.” Despite having sixteen songs chart within the Top 10, she has yet to take the top spot, with The Pinkprint’s “Anaconda” coming closest at No. 2 in 2014 and the aforementioned “Super Bass” hitting a No. 3 peak in 2011.

Other hip-hop singles that earned RIAA certifications within the past week include a triple-platinum award for 21 Savage’s “Bank Account,” a double-platinum one for Offset and Metro Boomin’s “Ric Flair Drip” and gold for YBN Nahmir’s “Rubbin Off The Paint.”

Nicki delays ‘Queen’ Release date

Oh no. Nicki won’t release her new album ‘Queen’ on June 15, instead it will be out on August 10, as she tweeted earlier today.

People are suggesting that her label pushed for the original release date, but Nicki says: “I love my label, but I’m happy that I’ve always been blessed to have the freedom and the creativity to do what I want when I want how I want it. Trust me, it’s the better choice.” (Quote via pitchfork.com)

Nicki Minaj Is Hinting at a New Track with YG, 2 Chainz and Big Sean

I found the following article on billboard.com:

Nicki Minaj is teasing a big announcement which just might be a track featuring YG, 2 Chainz and Big Sean. But she can’t seem to make up her mind when it’ll all go down.

With her new album Queen due out next month, the hip-hop star hinted at a star-studded collaboration, and sent her fanbase into a mini-meltdown with the promise of an announcement at 3pm ET Thursday.

And then, abruptly, she put a stop to all that. In response to a seemingly innocuous tweet, Minaj wrote: “Ok well why don’t I just scrap it altogether? No announcement. And another hiatus.” And right on cue, a stream of panicky memes flooded the social network.

And with a final message before bedtime, the announcement is on again. “Tomorrow I’ll feel a lot better & I’ll have more energy to interact with you when I DO go live,” she tweeted.

Over on her Instagram page, Minaj shared a snippet of audio, presumably a chunk of the new track, with a phone-filmed clip of a guy throwing wads of cash in the air like he just don’t care. Minaj tagged YG, 2 Chainz and Big Sean with an emoji-loaded phrase which alludes to the song title. It’s all about the money.

Confused? You’re not alone.

Minaj has had an eventful week. She canceled her appearance on The Ellen Show on Tuesday (May 22) citing “doctor’s orders,” while suggesting she was planning on making an announcement on the show. Her upcoming fourth album, Queen, is scheduled for release June 15.
