Jay Sean dished about hooking up with his “2012” collaborator Nicki Minaj when we caught up with him at the 2010 MTV VMAs. “She’s someone that I think is so dope,” the dapper singer from across the pond told Rap-Up TV. “I respect her as an artist, I respect her as an MC. For her to really be feeling my music enough to want to spit on it was a big compliment.”
His second U.S. album Freeze Time, due in November, will also include collaborations with Pitbull and an “amazing joint” with Birdman. America will get to see another side to him on the record, which is a return to his roots. “It’s just a nice mix between pop, R&B.”
And Jay plans to continue his British invasion with the follow-up single “Break Your Back,” which he describes as “something that’s slightly for the clubs, something fun, something slightly more urban leaning.”
